Reasons to Become an Insurance Broker

There are many reasons to become an insurance broker, but these are three major reasons we’d like to talk about today.

The job force is continually changing as new positions are added and then filled. Industries like hospitality or retail are always an option, but there are more exciting and fulfilling options out there! Currently, there’s a demand for insurance brokers in Ontario, and the insurance industry has plenty of options to help you attain your career goals.

Without further ado, here are three reasons to become an insurance broker!

1. Every Day is Different

With some careers, each day is the same as the one before. This is definitely NOT the case for an insurance broker. Canadian brokerages tend to be quite flexible with work schedules, often allowing brokers to adjust their work schedules or even work from home. And since the daily grind of an insurance broker is very client-focused, you will rarely be dealing with the same people every day. Getting to constantly introduce yourself to new people means you get to network while you work!

2. Insurance is a People-centric Industry

Part of the duties of an insurance broker is supporting current clients while also building strong relationships with new ones. If you like working with different kinds of people and getting a variety of insurance plans in order for your client base, this career could be the right one for you.

Cultivating relationships is one of the more important parts of the job, but you’ll also need to understand the details and the risks of various insurance products. To be effective in the field, you’ll need to gain client trust through knowledge and rapport. Learning to communicate effectively with clients is something that can be taught by the Management staff at My Hunter. Honesty, clear communication, and diligence are what make a great insurance broker.

3. It’s Recession-proof and Pandemic-proof

Employment with an insurance company or an independent agency offers EXCELLENT job security.

The Insurance industry isn’t going anywhere. It’s been around for many, many years, and it is here to stay as long as people continue to drive cars, own homes, and own businesses. No matter what the state of the economy is, people and businesses always need protection from potential risks. Because of this, insurance is much more stable than other fields during a recession or a global pandemic.
